4. Creating a Search Agent

A Search Agent is the core of plshireme.ca. It’s a configurable, automated job search that you define. Once created, the agent runs in the background, continuously scanning for new job listings that match your criteria and analyzing them against your chosen resume.

Agent Types

You can choose from three types of agents based on your search goals:

  • Comprehensive Search: The recommended default. This agent performs an initial deep search for all jobs posted within a specified period (e.g., “Past Month”) and then transitions to a daily monitor, checking for new jobs every day.
  • Daily Monitor: This agent only looks for new jobs posted in the last 24 hours. It’s ideal for keeping a continuous pulse on the market without a large initial backfill.
  • One-Time Backfill: This agent performs a single, deep search for jobs from a past period and then automatically disables itself once complete.

Creating Your First Agent

  1. Navigate to the Job Search Agents page from your dashboard.

  2. Click on “Create New Agent”.

  3. Fill out the agent’s parameters in the form:

    • Core Search: Define the Job Title and Location you’re targeting, and select the Job Board.
    • Filters: Refine your search with optional filters like Date Posted, Remote Options, Experience Level, and Industry.
    • Configuration: Give your agent a Description, select the Resume to Use, and set your Total Budget (the maximum number of jobs the agent will process) and Daily Budget (for continuous agents).

How Agents Work

  • Job Sourcing: The agent periodically queries the selected job board. Our system is optimized to run searches during peak hours (8 AM - 8 PM EST) with a cooldown period to respect job board limits.
  • Analysis & Matching: For each new job listing found, the system consumes one credit to analyze the job description and run our matching algorithm.
  • Results: The results populate on the Matches page, where you’ll find a ranked list of opportunities.

You can create multiple agents to target different roles, locations, or keywords simultaneously.
